Pictionary just got a facelift

A few weeks back we headed to Dullstroom with a group of friends. We sat up all night talking, playing board games and sharing memories. Now, one of our favourite games – Pictionary has launched PICTIONARY AIR.

So, the concept is the same, you still quickly draw a sock and no-one can possibly guess what it is, LOL! That’s half the fun of it right – realising that your friends are no Picasso’s. The difference between the original and Pictionary Air is that now, instead of drawing on a piece of paper, this game has been reborn in the digital age and you draw your pics on your phone, tablet or TV screen.

I am so excited to go back to Dullstroom and play this game with friends over a glass of red wine. This is definitely a new way, to play! If you’re wondering why you may not have heard about this game yet, that’s probably because it’s only been available in South Africa since July, so if you get it now you’ll likely be the first of your friends to have it. With the festive season around the corner, this is an excellent choice for a fun night in with the family. Pictionary is also available as a mobile app, if you would prefer to download that option instead.

I love the new take on this game, it’s really refreshing to see a board game innovate enough to appeal to a millennial audience in the digital age, and this is probably why this brand will remain relevant. There’s still the fun, creative and playful element to this game, now just with a digital engagement leg too.

Never heard of Pictionary before? No worries, we’ve got you covered. Just like the original board game, Pictionary Air players are divided into two teams. Each player from a team takes a turn to draw a picture of a word selected from a deck of cards. The player illustrating the word gets to use an oversized light-up pen, and the drawings can be seen using the Pictionary Air app.

This new approach to Pictionary also allows players to interact with their sketch, bringing the game to life and creating a million more memories and experiences to laugh over. This easy-to-use Pictionary Air app introduces multiple gameplay modes so fans can take their Pictionary experience to the next level. You can customise your Pictionary Air experience by giving players more (or less!) time to guess. You can record, snap and save all your funny, memorable and awkward moments as well as share them to social media. Let’s be honest if it isn’t on social media, did it even really happen?

Pictionary Air is perfect for any party or games night with 8-year olds and up. Through the in-app screen, which is compatible with IOS and Android operating systems, you’ll be ready to get up and move in no time. Pictionary Air is available in-store, at a recommended retail price of R449.99. Included is a Pictionary Air™ pen, 112 double-sided clue cards and card box and one AA Alkaline battery.

*Thank you so much to Mattel SA for gifting me with this lovely boardgame.
