Guilt-free sweetness

Since I recently turned 30 eek! I’ve upped how much collagen I take, and I’ve also been more discerning about what I put into my body. My aim is to cut down on and then completely eliminate processed carbs and sugar from my diet. Easier said than done right, have you tasted coffee without the sugar? It’s not great.

I recently came across ‘Freesweet’ and wanted to look deeper into this new brand. Is this another money-making alternative that another massive corporation has launched? During my research, I was pleasantly surprised to find that this sugar-alternative is the brainchild of a female entrepreneur, named Deborah Good and that she’s from my hometown of Durban! Being a female entrepreneur and Durbanite myself I continued to delve deeper into what this product is all about.

What is freesweet?

Freesweet is a healthier, naturally sweet, non-GMO sugar alternative. It will add that sweetness to your coffee, without all the baddies in sugar. Guys I’m not going to say it tastes exactly like sugar, because it doesn’t, but it’s pretty close. An alternative will never exactly replicate the original, but this one comes pretty close. You can tell that it’s not sugar, but not enough that it bothers you or that you go back to using sugar (as I’ve done in the past). I like that this option comes in a glass jar (recyclable and looks great) or you can buy sachets. These are perfect for travels and I keep two in my handbag at all times.

“Freesweet is so much more than a well-researched formulation of natural ingredients; this is a product with a social conscience that can positively change lives and be a contribution to one’s health,” says Deborah.

Freesweet; has 0g net carbs per teaspoon, has no artificial ingredients, is deliciously sweet with no bitter aftertaste, bakes and caramelises beautifully, and replaces sugar in a 1:1 ratio in any recipe. It is also diabetic-friendly, endorsed by Diabetes South Africa with a low glycaemic response – GI of 3 (sugar – 65), may assist weight loss, and is GMO-free.

Deborah has created a product that combines wellness with the luxury of indulgence. With the integrity and meaningful intentionality that went into the creation of the product, FreeSweet is set to become the only choice for delightful sugar replacement.

Is Freesweet legit?

Deborah invested years of her life into finding the right ingredients that were naturally sweet and non-GMO, but an alternative that also had the right look, smell, texture and other qualities that we associate with sugar.

Can anyone make claims that their sugar alternative is better than sugar or are there procedures in place? Freesweet is accredited by international food technologists and nutritional certification bodies. Deborah has also entered into a partnership with Grant Rushmere, creator and founder of Bos Ice Tea and now CEO of Freesweet. After that, a joint venture with Pioneer Foods, a leader in the FMCG food sector, was born. So, if you’re wondering about this brand’s accreditation – it’s there and if you think it may be another fly by night brand – it’s not. These accreditations and backings alone should be enough to make you want to try this range for yourself right. Please do, and let me know what you think.

The logo:

This colourful logo had me thinking about what it represented? So, I had to find out and here is the answer – The butterfly consists of 7 elements, reflecting the product (which has 7 ingredients) – the combination of which creates a magnificent alchemy which can transform lives and health profiles too.

I must admit, I am a sucker for a logo with purpose and this one encompasses its purpose, fully.

Why I think you should give this product a go:

  • It’s healthier than sugar
  • It has no carbs or artificial ingredients in it
  • It replaces sugar at a 1:1 ratio when baking and your baking does not taste as though an alternative sweetener has been used
  • Girl, I think we are about to lose cm around our waste by swopping sugar for Freesweet
  • It’s been well researched and is endorsed by several organisations that I trust
