31 Dec Up, up and Olay
I’ve been looking for a new, lightweight moisturiser as my current one has been feeling a little heavy in this heat. It can feel as though I’m sweating under my makeup and it’s a worry that it is clogging my pores. I came across Olay Whips at Clicks in Bryanston shopping center, the bright red packaging sucked me in (am I the only person who gets drawn in by a pretty bottle?) and then I saw that it promises to be a lightweight moisturiser and I was intrigued. At first, I was skeptical. I thought, this is probably just another drug store moisturiser promising to be lightweight, but it’s probably going to leave me with a greasy, unwanted glow under my makeup. However, I decided to give it a try and this was my experience.
It was really lightweight on my skin, so much so that the first few times I used it I put WAY too much on, as I couldn’t feel it on my skin and wondered if it was working. I decided to look into the packaging and ingredients more and found that the Olay Whips range features Active Rush Technology™, which has the ability to hold and quickly release 1000x its weight in hydration and active ingredients. That’s why I couldn’t feel it on my skin. Olay Whips transforms from cream to liquid on contact, flash absorbing into the skin to deliver anti-aging skincare with a light as air touch.
How interesting is that? I really love finding out how products work as it gives you a newfound respect for the science behind the beauty range and it manages expectations in terms of what to expect from the range. This new technology has effectively re-written the rules on the formulation of a facial moisturiser. Until now, there were only two ways of adapting skin creams, by either adding more oils or more water to change the feel and finish of the cream. Whereas Olay Whips’ Active Rush Technology™ has engineered a brand new third way, creating a unique 3D structure in the jar and on the skin – enabling a smooth, matte and light as air finish.
I really enjoy this moisturiser as it does exactly what it promises to do, it’s light, I apply my makeup and I don’t have a greasy/glowy look which is perfect for the professional business-woman image I’m trying to portray. I have not experienced any breakouts using this range and I do not feel like a dry up and need to apply more throughout the day, which is fab for someone like me who has naturally dry skin. As someone who tries loads of different moisturisers daily, I really enjoyed his one and it’s price point meant I could purchase it wit my Clicks Clubcard points.
Available in two variants:
Olay Regenerist Whip Moisturiser diminishes the look of fine lines and wrinkles whilst actively hydrating to improve elasticity and firm skin for a lifted look and feel. Formulated with Active Rush Technology™ with advanced Amino-Peptide Complex II to regenerate surface cells, it actively hydrates to improve elasticity and firm skin for a lifted look. This one costs about R315 but prices may vary between stores. This is the one that I have and the one I’m currently using, after seeing how well this one works, I would definitely try the total effects range next.
Olay Total Effects Whip Moisturiser delivers ultimate nourishment without weight. It is formulated using Active Rush Technology™ with VitaNiacin Complex II and Vitamins C & E to fight the early signs of aging. NEW Olay Total Effects Whip Moisturiser delivers 7 skin benefits in one. This one costs about R450
If you’re looking for a lightweight, everyday moisturiser, this is a great option to consider. If you’re looking for a moisturiser that gives you a healthy glow to your skin, this isn’t the one. Personally, I prefer a matt finish for everyday use.
Enjoy guys, I hope you enjoy this moisturiser as much as I do.
