1) Tell us about your entrepreneurial journey, how did you get here?

My journey began when I was diagnosed with lupus, an autoimmune disease. It significantly impacted my mobility and daily life, making even simple tasks a struggle. As a mother of two wonderful kids, I felt like my world was falling apart. The prescribed medications came with numerous side effects.

Determined to find a better way, I delved into alternative methods to manage my condition. My quest led me to traditional healing practices that harnessed the healing power of medicated herbs without side effects. I soon realized there are countless individuals like me, seeking natural solutions to feel their best.

3) How did you get started in the business?

Having worked in product and brand management for around 15 years, I was equipped with all the tools and knowledge to go out on my own. My big break away from corporate came when I had to leave work due to family commitments.

4) Give us your top tips for business success.

It sounds cliched but honestly, never give up on your passion. Even if you feel down and out, remember to find the inner strength to keep going.

5) Why do you think more South Africans need to support local businesses and entrepreneurs?

When you support local businesses and entrepreneurs, you are also supporting communities and families.

6) What has been your biggest challenge as an entrepreneur to date?

My biggest challenge so far is having to be every working function in order to get the product out there. You become the researcher, the product developer, the marketer, the salesman, the accountant. You have to stretch yourself into learning new functional areas.

7) What predictions/trends do you see happening within your industry in 2024?

There are two main trends within the herbal tea industry:

  1. The increasing demand for products that are environmentally sustainable and eco-friendly.
  2. There is a growing demand for Functional Teas – these are teas that are specifically designed to provide health benefits.
