Eclipse restaurant review: where cuisine and entertainment collide

Last week, my husband and I had the pleasure of experiencing an unforgettable date night evening at Eclipse Restaurant, nestled within the elegant Hotel Sky in Sandton. For the reasonable price of R895 per person, we were treated to a delightful three-course dinner, a welcome drink, and a fantastic theatrical show. To our delight, there was even face painting, adding a touch of whimsy to our evening. I got some roses painted onto my face, that was my way of incorporating my daughter Mila Rose into the date night evening.

The show, titled ‘Heart of the World,’ was an absolute delight, with timeless 80’s music that had the entire audience singing along. As the sun dipped below the horizon, we were treated to breathtaking views that added to the enchantment of the evening. We arrived at 18h30, your meal orders need to be placed by 19h00 and the show starts promptly at 19h30. Expect to leave around 22h00.

Now, let’s talk about the food, which was nothing short of superb. The starters, from the delectable beef phyllo to the visually stunning scallops and sardine dish, were a delightful prelude to what was to come. The star of the night, the rack of lamb main, which left us speechless with its incredible flavors. I can safely say that I would return to Eclipse Restaurant just for another taste of this culinary masterpiece.

For dessert, the chocolate dome was a symphony of flavors, with the coffee cream offering a perfect balance to the sweetness. My only complaint is that there wasn’t more of it – it was that good. Even the Baklava cheesecake, which I didn’t personally taste but received glowing reviews from my husband, added to the culinary magic of the evening.

The restaurant’s decor was a visual treat, featuring bold prints, animal motifs, and crystal chandeliers that added an extra layer of opulence to the entire experience. From the fantastic food to the enthralling show and the charming touches like face painting, our visit to Eclipse Restaurant was a night to remember. If you’re looking for an all-encompassing dining and entertainment experience, Eclipse is the place to be. The show is playing until mid-December, so book now to avoid disappointment.
