As you step in to PREVIEW, you’re immediately greeted by a mesmerising scene straight out of a Winter fairytale. The elegant Winter decor, adorned with touches of bright colour, and dried cotton plants, creates an atmosphere that is both cozy and whimsical. The inviting fireplace crackles with warmth, inviting guests to settle into plush armchairs, sleek barstools, and a magnificent bar, where you can then indulge in the ultimate comfort, right here in the city of gold.

The menu at PREVIEW’s Winter Bar is a testament to the culinary prowess of the Four Seasons Hotel. Warm up your taste buds with a selection of signature winter cocktails, skillfully crafted by expert mixologists. From aromatic mulled wine to innovative creations inspired by the season, each sip is a delight for the senses. We tasted the Spiced Russian (R165) which is an aromatic blend of caramel rum, cream, Amaretto, Kettle One vodka, and kalua – it was absolutely delicious! I would order another one. I also tasted the sweet, citrussy, warm Gluwhein (R95) which comprises of red wine, citrus, star of Anise, and Cinnamon fynbos honey, which was equally as delicious.

For those craving a bite to eat, the menu offers a tantalizing array of winter-inspired dishes, ranging from Braai’d Nelson Mandela Bay oysters to delectable desserts, like the boozy Belgian hot chocolate, with triple chocolate cookies, that will leave you craving for more.

The Nelson Mandela Bay Oysters (R195 for two) were the highlight of the canape’s on offer, for me, braai’d, with black winter truffle, Parmesan creme and caviar. This was a warm, cheesy, garlicy, delicious oyster. I could’ve eaten 12 of these on my own. I also highly recommend the cantonese salt and pepper fried squid (R165) prepared using spring onion, chili, Szechuan pepper, and served with garlic aioli and lime. Another well balanced dish that was oh-so-moreish.

On the dessert side the Churros (R85) we’re light and crispy and came with a matcha dipping sauce which was quite different. Also a very light, decadent offering, however the creme de la creme for me, was the Boozy Belgian hot chocolate (R165), this can be found under the drinks menu, but it’s 100% a delectable dessert if you ask me.

One of the standout features of this luxurious Winter Bar is the attentive and welcoming staff. The service is impeccable, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure every guest feels like royalty. From recommending the perfect drink to taking your coat and offering refills, your empty canape plate won’t stay on your plate for more than a few minutes, before it’s skillfully taken away, their attention to detail creates an unforgettable experience that sets the Four Seasons Hotel offering apart from other Jozi offerings in the area.
