Five beauty essentials to keep you looking sexy this Summer

My hubster is moving to Klerksdorp this December, for four months and while I’m not looking forward to it, I am looking forward to seeing him on weekends. It will be like we are dating again, and I’m looking forward to that. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, here’s to dating each other, flirting, and falling in love all over again. I’ve tried a few new products, that keep me feeling sexy and I wanted to share them with you too.

The Body Shop Pink Grapefruit Shower Gel

Nothing says date night, like leaving a warm shower, smelling like a fresh pink grapefruit. This shower gel has a remarkable way of leaving your skin feeling clean and soft, while still smelling great. This shower gel is gentle enough to remove the day from your skin, even deodorant residue, but it is gentle enough not to strip away your skin’s natural oils. So, it can safely be used as part of your daily Summer, good morning / wake me up ritual.

NUXE Very Rose 3-in-1 Hydrating Micellar Water

This hydrating micellar water smells amazing and is a must-have essential for removing the night, on this Summer’s festive scene. Whether you’ve had a day at the beach, or been at a friend’s house for a festive braai, your skin will thank you for this hydrating treat at the end of the night. Especially if you’re spending more time in the Summer sunshine as we know you will be. This fresh, floral scent smells like you’ve just stepped into your favourite rose garden at the botanical gardens. It gently caresses oil, dirt, and makeup from the skin, and mercifully removes it all (even eye-makeup). All while leaving your skin feeling supple and hydrated. It’s light enough to be used daily. I allow a few drops to cascade onto a clean cotton pad and then I wipe my face and neck down, without forgetting my hairline and ears.

Youth Lab Peptides Spring Hydra Gel Eye Patches

That year-end madness has certainly crept in. we are trying to wrap up 2021 budgets and campaigns while strategizing for the year ahead. This means lots of late nights and less sleep and unfortunately, if you head on over to my Instagram page, you’ll notice that this is now leading to dark circles and under-eye bags. Not the vibe I was looking for TBH. I’ve been on the hunt for a solution that works and I think I may have just found one to leave the Sandman green with envy. I recently tried out the Youth Labs Hydra-Gel Eye Patches. I keep mine in my mini beauty fridge (alongside my night creams, serums, and lip gels), this ensures that they’re refreshingly cooling on that sensitive under-eye skin. The good news is that they’re fast-acting, and hydrating which helps to minimize the appearance of fine lines under the eyes too. These eye patches double up as a makeup primer, as I find that my concealer glides on, under my eyes, so much smoother after I’ve used my eye patches. Keep them in your handbag to use on long-haul flights, in the car on the way to work after pulling an all-nighter, or in the morning, before you get your face ready for a celebratory occasion like a wedding or a year-end function.   They smell refreshingly delicious too.

Zero bar

This is a great limited-edition sulfate-free, active bar. It is so easy to pop into, well anywhere as it takes up, very little space. Easily pop it into your gym bag, toiletry bag, or even your handbag. This bar is great for a fun weekend away at the bush, the sea, or anywhere in-between. This little bar is sulfate-free, can be used for the hair and body, and is derived from the Arnica flower (part of the sunflower family), it contains healing properties and improves the density and strength of your hair. It is also enriched with the antibacterial benefits of eucalyptus and refreshing menthol crystals – now you can leave your shower feeling fresh and clean, whilst smelling like a little eucalyptus leaf. Some of the ingredients used in this bar are macadamia nut oil (for added strength and shine). Avocado oil (for deep penetrating moisture), coconut oil (to stimulate hair growth). And sunflower oil (to nourish and soothe the scalp).

Environ Body EssentiA Contouring Cream

Whether you’re spending the holidays seaside, or by the pool with friends you’ll likely be sporting a cozzie, thanks to this Summer heat. This is when we may feel our most vulnerable as most of us will feel self-conscious about our cellulite. It’s important to remember that cellulite does not discriminate, it can affect anyone, regardless of your age, shape, or race. I’ll be honest with you, there’s no enchanting wand that will instantly smooth your dimples or firm up your untoned thighs. However, a rich vitamin contouring cream, alongside some dry brushing to increase circulation, is definitely a step in the right direction. This anti-cellulite cream is fast-absorbing, so your skin soaks it up like a tall drink of water. It doesn’t feel sticky on the skin, so you don’t need to be concerned about your Summer skirt sticking to your skin after application. It definitely helps to reduce the appearance of cellulite dimples, but of course, it cannot remove their appearance in totality. After a few uses, my skin felt smoother and firmer and I definitely felt a little more confident. I’m going to keep using this cream every morning and evening, leading up to the holidays, in an attempt to live that hot girl Summer lifestyle at home!
