Three restaurants worth visiting this month

Spring is here and we are in lockdown level one.  If you’re like us, you’re tired of cooking and you may be looking for new restaurants to try out. Here’s a list of a few that we’ve tried. We’ve got a pub grub option, burgers in a new neighborhood, and a restaurant offering half-price coffee all month. All that’s left to do is make a reservation and enjoy!

The Noble, Illovo:

Looking for somewhere to watch the Rugga with friends, that offers tasty, no-fuss grub, great beer, and a fab atmosphere? Well, The Noble Illovo is here and beer lovers especially will be delighted with this restaurant’s offerings. Interestingly enough, the Noble was founded by the owners of The Nobleman Brewing Company in Magaliesburg. At this restaurant, you can expect to find bright walls, rustic tables, and beer on tap at this establishment, in the heart of Illovo. If you’re not a beer drinker, do not despair, the summer sweet (watermelon and mint) cocktails were delicious, as were the G&T’s.

The pub grub that we enjoyed most were the crispy bacon-wrapped onion rings (yip. they’re as delicious as they sound) they were absolutely more-ish, the jalapeno poppers, which were flavor-packed and decadently filled with a cheesy filling and came with a deliciously creamy, dipping sauce and the roosterkoeks were great too. The roosterkoeds are essentially braai broodjies filled with delicious fillings that will help soak up some of the delicious pale ale, lager, and pilsners you’ll be drinking with them.

The pulled pork pizza was packed with generous toppings, it was really fulling, and the middle eastern lamb burger was deliciously smothered in spicy tomato chutney and minted yoghurt slaw. This restaurant is next to the prawnery in Illovo. they play live sports, have good music with live bands and the service is top-notch.

Ribs & Burgers, the Neighbourhood:

The brand new, Neighbourhood Square is Linksfields latest and most fashionable neighbourhood hub, hosting a range of gorgeous restaurants, bars, and retail outlets. The center is open plan in terms of design, with lots of glass and steel, to make you feel as though you’re outside, even though you’re inside. While shopping for a new summer scent, we decided to take a break and have lunch at the newest Ribs & Burgers franchise. As the name says, this restaurant is best know for their Ribs & Burgers. Whether you’re in the mood for mouth-watering, well-basted beef/lamb/pork ribs (that are so delicious you’ll need to snap a photo), a premium butchers beef slider, a crispy chicken burger, or a shredded greek lamb wrap, Ribs & Burgers has you covered.

Vegetarians, do not despair, they offer well seasoned, fulling veggie burgers and flavourful salads too. I recommend their falafel burger, although the veggie stack is a fan-favourite of mine too. Get your seasoned sides, such as mighty golden tenders, seasoned onion rings, and sweet potato fries. Don’t leave without trying their extra thick shakes too, my personal favourite is the salted caramel. Not a milkshake fan – then you may be up to try a homemade iced lemonade, homemade iced coffee or a homemade iced orangeade?

Covid-19 transformed a client and supplier relationship into a partnership. Founders Larry Hodes and Marco Da Silva, birthed Coffefe Roastery during a global pandemic, through their combined love and appreciation for coffee. This roastery offers a refreshing, playful, and down to earth take on specialty coffee. It’s not hipster. It’s not toffee-nosed. But it is unapologetic.
