Mini review: Just Teddy, Hyde Park

Living in Joburg, eating out is part of our culture right. We have business meetings over lunch and have catch ups with friends over drinks. We are always hungry for some new spots to frequent. Earlier this year I met a friend from Cape Town for lunch and we decided to try Just Teddy.

While it appears to be more of a patisserie than a lunch spot, I was pleasantly surprised by their lunchtime offerings.

The setting reminds me of a posh tea house in London, gold tables and accessories, orchids draped everywhere, it’s simply phenomenal. While there I had a burger and Coke Zero, I was having one of those days where this is all I was craving.

I tried their boujee beef, cheese, and gherkin burger. It didn’t just look great, it was absolutely phenomenal too! Full of beefy flavour and the chips were crispy and salty just the way I like them. I think I paid R80 for this. That’s an absolute steal in this neck of the woods. My friend ordered tea and I loved that it came with a mini 3-minute hourglass accompanies your tea so you know exactly when you can start drinking it.

If you’re looking for a new lunch spot in Hyde Park I would definitely give them a try. Their pastries also look incredible too, I didn’t take any pics though! However, I would definitely go back to try them out. The service was also fabulous – the waiters left us wanting for nothing.

Have you been and what was your experience at Just Teddy?
