The world of skincare can be pretty daunting at times. Which products are right for your skin and which ones should you invest in? There are thousands of products on the market that all claim to do amazing things. Being a beauty blogger I change skincare brands regularly as I always want to inform my readers about what products are available, how well they worked for me and what the price points are. While three different brands may work for my specific skincare concerns, they may not all work for my readers budgets, which is why I always try offer you a pleathera of options to choose from. Knowledge is power and I will always empower you with as much information as possible to make an informed decision.
Dermalogica has launched a brand new product to the skincare market and I’ve had the pleasure of using it over the last few weeks. Introducing the new Rapid Reveal Peel! This peel is a maximum-strength exfoliant that delivers powerful results with no downtime. Whoop whoop! Rapid Reveal Peel is the highest-strength exfoliant in the Dermalogica retail line and is suitable for people with signs of dehydration, skin aging, and uneven skin tone. This product is ideal for women who live busy lifestyles and don’t have much time for professional peels or if you want to enhance the benefits of your professional skin treatments, Rapid Reveal Peel is the one product you need to introduce to your skincare regime!
Get that glow girrrrrrl!
It’s important that I explain what cell turnover is, in order for you to have a better understanding of how this product works. Cell turnover is the process by which our skin produces new skin cells, from the lowesr layer of the skin, to the top. and then shed. As we age, our skin cell turnover slows down, which causes dead skin cells to cling to the surface. This is why our skin looks less radiant. Combine this with the fact that our body stops producing collagen naturally from the age of 25 years old, and the accumulation of environmental damage over the years, our skin looks dull and wrinkles become more prominent. For the longest time, professional peels have been the only ‘go-to’ treatment to combat the signs of aging and we all know that these products are pretty pricy. However we see the results and that is why we keep going back for more.
Medium and deep peels should only be applied by a professional as not to harm your skin. However, a lighter grade peel can be used at home, I’m there for that! Introducing Rapid Reveal Peel, this product supercharges skin renewal by accelerating cell turnover to reveal smooth, glowing skin. I love the science behind this brand. Rapid Reveal Peel is clinically proven to visibly reduce fine lines and increase radiance. Now those are stats that I can work with.
This product has the highest strength exfoliant in the Dermalogica retail line. This light peel is incredibly effective, and it also helps with what we have been previously talking about, the all-important cell turnover. This peel activates our cell turnover to reveal radiant skin under all of the nasty bits we have peeled away.
How the product works.
This peel has no ‘downtime’, which means that your skin will be fine to go about your regular day and this is due to the superior ingredients inside. There’s a little redness, no pain and minimal peeling.
Rapid Reveal Peel contains a complex of potent phytoactive AHA extracts, fermented plant enzymes and Lactic Acid to increase cell turnover to reveal firmer skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Pumpkin Fruit Enzyme and Rice Bran Extract resurface and help even out skin tone. Smoothing Australian Caviar Lime Extracts brightens skin for a more radiant complexion. I did flake a bit after this peel, but not as much as I usually would after a salon peel. I found if I use loads of calm water gel the day of the peel that my skin looks glowing and soft.
How to use the peel.
There are 2 ways to use this peel. I was looking to achieve accelerated results, so I chose the ‘kick-start phase’. This is where you use one tube every day, for 3 consecutive days, and then transition to using once a week. Using this product once a week is ideal to maintain professional treatment results. The travel bag was able to stick onto the mirror in the bathroom, which I loved. It was easier to remember to use the product as it was right in front of me. I actually managed to get 5 uses out of one tube, that was from applying two laters to my whole face. I love that you can break off the top, use the product which has the consistency of a watery gel, if you can imagine that. Then you pop the nib back on so it doesnt dry out or spill.
I used this peel as part of my night-time regimen, I cleansed my face, toned and then applied the peel for 3-7 minutes. I did feel my skin tingle a little bit and it looked a little flushed, but there was no burning. You could tell that active ingredients were used on your face though. I then washed my face with warm water and applied loads of calm water gel to my face.
It’s important to use a high SPF during the day, when using maximum-strength peels as skin becomes more sensitive to UV light. SPF50 should be used daily in line with using this product.
