it’s a Sher thing was recently invited to visit Catch Seafood Grill Restaurant in Bedfordview, Johannesburg. Nestled in the heart of this beautiful city, Catch was a welcomed delight of designer sushi, on trend Asian dishes and fruity fish bowl cocktails. Its contemporary setting, modern décor and delicious menu makes this restaurant a must visit for Bedfordview residents.
We started off the afternoon with gorgeous strawberry gin smash’s, served in round fish bowl glasses and garnished with seasonal strawberries. This fresh, citrus, pink drink was the perfect light starter for a cool winter afternoon in Johannesburg. Especially after a busy week! We then enjoyed a trio of dishes including dim sum, sushi and salt & pepper calamari.
We were able to see something truly unique; at the back of the restaurant you can see the chef grill fish on an open flame. We watched him smoke and cook a red roman, before we enjoyed it. This is something I’ve never seen before at a restaurant. The fish was light and beautiful and fell off the bone. It was lovely. I also tasted the sizzling beef, which is served with a delicious dressing that is oh so Moorish and the salmon poke bowl which seems to be very popular this season. The edemame beans were cooked beautifully and the crispy rice added a delightful crunch to the dish. Catch offers lunch time sushi and seafood specials, so do pop out in your lunch break. They also offer alternative dishes if you’re not a seafood fan.
Ambience:
Catch is a place where adults can enjoy a seafood lunch or dinner, in a modern setting. Conveniently located in a mall, this is the perfect pit stop in-between your shopping experience, it’s also a great restaurant to go to for dinner before you head out to a movie.
Drinks:
Catch offers a selection of bubbly, wines and fruity cocktails. All beautifully presented.
Service:
The waiters were all knowledgeable about the cuisine, made excellent recommendations and were happy, accommodating and quick with the food.
Pricing:
Cocktails range from R60,00 – R75,00 and you can expect items such as grapefruit G&Ts, peppered strawberry G&Ts and passion fruit mojito’s.
Starters range from R56,00 – R68,00 and you can expect items such as dim sum, sushi, calamari and crispy squid.
Mains range from R135,00 – R185 and you can expect items such as sizzling beef, prawns and languine, pecking duck and ribs
Desserts range from R55,00 – R60 and you can expect items such as deep-fried oreos, chocolate volcanoes and chocolate brownies. I didn’t try the desserts but I am definitely coming back to try all things chocolatey!
