I’m sure this headline pulled you in right, it was the nakedness part…. well that’s exactly how I felt when I first heard about Naked. Naked is a coffee shop and cafe, and their latest branch has just opened in Sandton City. Now you can enjoy a shopping spree and a cappuccino, in the sweetest little take-away cup.
The Whippet Cafe, Glenda’s and Naked Coffee. What do all three of these restaurants have in common? They’re some of my favourite breakfast spots in Joburg right now. So naturally, when Naked Coffee opened up a branch in Sandton City, I rushed on over to get my hands on a cup of coffee and a slice of their famous banana bread.
Although their website says this branch opens at 07h00, it only opens up at 09h00. So be sure not to get there too early. The Sandton City menu is smaller than their other menu’s but you could definitely grab a quick breakfast, lunch or sweet treat there, in between your shopping spree. You can find them where the old smooch yogurt shop was, pretty close to the new Dischem, outside the Tiger of Sweden.
They have some really healthy options on the menu, such as turmeric oats and fresh fruit juices. I treated myself to a smashed avo on toast with dukkah crumble, while Dr. Bae enjoyed Mexican mince on toast, accompanied by roast tomatoes on the vine. The flavours were sensational and the ingredients were fresh and colourful. We then shared a delicious slice of banana bread, with some salted butter. The banana bread was one of the most delicious ones I’ve ever had, it was moist and sweet and had a delicious, fresh banana aroma and taste. I was full after my smashed avo, but the banana bread still went down like a treat.
The cutlery and crockery were also really gorgeous, if you’re into that sort of thing….. which I am. I’m also a bit fan of their tag line…. We just want to see you happy, and naked. Isn’t that what we all want? The Naked coffee barista’s serve the most delicious, fresh coffee, with the sweetest images in the foam. The emerald green tiles also make for the perfect background for you to practice your selfie skills, because let’s face it…. If you don’t take a pic there did you really even have breakfast there? Visit Naked’s Facebook page, they have great recipe’s and sweet coffee meme’s. www.Facebook.com/NkdCoffeesa
Enjoy your next trip to Naked and let me know if you enjoyed the coffee and banana bread as much as I did…
