I tried LUSH’s new naked products, they have no packaging…..
You can always smell a LUSH store before you can even see it, the reason for that is probably due to their naked ranges. LUSH recently released a range of naked (packaging free) shower gels and body conditioners and I’m loving them. This seems to be a growing trend in South Africa, with consumers becoming more environmentally conscious and packaging free supermarkets popping up around the country, I saw a recent one in Cape Town. It’s great to see that local brands are picking up on these trends and staying ahead of the demand. I love that LUSH is creating naked versions of bottled products in an effort to reduce the amount of plastic used for their ranges.
I did some research on these brands and I realised that to create these naked products some ingredients have been rearranged to help solidify the formula without changing the scent or product efficacy. The shower gel and body conditioner are surprisingly great and they look and smell delicious! I’ve also seen products like bubble bars, soap and bath bombs being sold packaging free which allows their natural scents to flow freely through the store. I love leaving these products in my bathroom as they make the whole room smell gorgeous.
Snow Fairy Shower Gel:
The first product I tried was the Snow Fairy Shower Gel (R95). At first I thought it was a bar of soap but then I realised it was a shower gel. When you glide the bottle-shaped gel over your wet skin, you immediately feel a trail of liquified shower gel. It’s very similar to squirting shower gel directly onto your skin from a bottle. This naked version just enables you to have a more precise application. This product has a pleasantly sweet but not overpowering aroma, like I’m wearing a candy floss cologne. I would recommend cutting this product into smaller pieces to make it last a little bit longer and so it’s a little easier to handle. Having said that, I’ve been using this product for the last 3-4 weeks and the naked bottle has barely shrunk. This was a seasonal shower gel for Christmas but LUSH is always bringing out new variants.
Bucks Fizz Naked Shower Conditioner:
The next product I tried out was the Bucks Fizz Naked Body Conditioner (R140). This product had an interesting name and is lovely to look at and use. This product is an in-shower lotion (post body wash). You rinse it off after letting it sit on your skin for a few minutes. It’s hydrating and smells magnificent. It’s sweet and bubbly, like an orange mimosa on a warm summers day. I could still smell this fragrance on my skin throughout the day. My skin also felt supple and soft
I was impressed with LUSH’s ‘naked’ range and will continue to support this movement. The products work well and fit into my beauty routine well. LUSH’s commitment to being environmentally friendly and their clear efforts to reduce their carbon footprint by creating zero waste cosmetics is really inspiring. It will be exciting to watch how this brand continues to innovate and stay on trend without compromising on look, scent or product efficacy.
